A lawsuit filed by Bruce Puterbaugh, a California cabinetmaker in his 70s, led to the reversal of a decision made in May. The complaint stemmed from his donation of a Volvo to Kars4Kids in 2021, after being repeatedly exposed to their radio ads. Court documents revealed that he felt misled by the organization's advertising claims.

A New Jersey-based Jewish organization, Oorah, receives primary funding from Kars4Kids, supporting various initiatives such as adult matchmaking services, teen trips to Israel, and summer camps in New York, according to Judge Gassia Apkarian's recent court decision.

A review of the program revealed it was a promotional giveaway of branded backpacks by Kars4Kids in California.

A court order has been issued, requiring Kars4Kids to cease ad broadcasts within a 30-day timeframe in California.

New advertisements will now prominently feature a clear announcement about Kars4Kids' faith-based mission and the areas where it primarily allocates donations, distinguishing between support for children and families.

According to Ms. Kirwan, Kars4Kids' initiatives have a profound impact on numerous young people across California and extend far beyond its borders.

Neal Roberts, attorney for Mr. Puterbaugh, issued a statement expressing his client's continued faith that an appeal would ultimately fail, with the Kars4Kids jingle being removed from California broadcasts as a result.

Attorneys representing Mr. Puterbaugh remained unavailable for immediate comment, despite inquiries made on the preceding Sunday.
