This exclusive establishment boasts two rooms, each accommodating six patrons, with reservations typically secured a month in advance. While Mr. Mitani is not a full-time presence, Kazuya Tsuruta oversees the culinary experience, mirroring his master's technique by placing nigiri on the customer's palm to preserve temperature. 08Red Beard Coffee & Bakery
The menu at Red Beard Coffee & Bakery is a fusion of flavors from around the world, with a particular emphasis on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. Pastrami takes center stage in various dishes, including egg rolls, pierogi, and a borek that gives this traditional pastry a Turkish twist. This adaptation makes sense given the similarities between pastrami and Turkish basturma, a dried and spiced beef product often smoked. Other menu items include a Danish made with olives and sun-dried tomatoes, as well as a baklava doughnut topped with honeyed pistachios. The cafe also serves classic Turkish coffee, along with an assortment of specialty coffee and tea drinks.

21Uovo
This company, which operates five restaurants in Los Angeles, has expanded its reach by opening a new location in New York. The decision to transport fresh egg pasta from Italy daily is rooted in the notion that Italian-made pasta using local eggs and crafted by skilled sfogline holds a certain superiority. Each of their rustic eateries features open kitchens, offering an array of antipasti and around a dozen pasta dishes, including amatriciana, lasagna, cacio e pepe and pomodoro. Notably, the higher prices in New York ($24 to $27 with service fee) compared to Los Angeles ($17 to $19 plus 16% fee) may be attributed to the shorter transportation distance.

30Cozy Soup ’N’ Burger
The Cozy Soup 'N' Burger has been a mainstay in the Astor Place area since its inception in 1972. This transportation, shopping, and academic hub has witnessed the diner's steady decline due to economic pressures. According to owner John Stratidis, "a perfect storm of dwindling sales and escalating costs" has led to this difficult decision. As a result, patrons will soon miss out on 50 distinct omelet options, a signature Wisconsin sandwich and rich milkshakes.
