However its newly restored sheen was short-lived due to subsequent heatwaves that triggered an algae resurgence.

The Interior Department's management team confirmed that a nanobubbler was installed to treat the Reflecting Pool's water, eliminating the need for future algae removal efforts. The spokeswoman predicted an imminent resolution to the algae issue.

The Reflecting Pool's water quality has been significantly improved with the deployment of advanced nanobubbler technology, effectively eliminating algae that is being removed via vacuum as we speak today. A no-bid contract was awarded to Atlantic Industrial Coatings in Virginia for a specialized coating job on the Reflecting Pool's concrete slabs, sealing leaky joints and applying a dark blue waterproofing material. Meanwhile, another company, Greenwater Services from Ohio, received a separate contract for an advanced water-purification system installation.

The renovation of the Reflecting Pool was finalized on June 4, with Atlantic Industrial Coatings completing their task. The pool's water was then replenished promptly, while Greenwater Services completed its installation of a state-of-the-art purification system.

Sunday saw National Park Service employees venturing into the Reflecting Pool, where they carefully removed visible algae growths from its surface. Meanwhile, personnel from Pearl Purity Water Solutions, a Maryland-based firm contracted since 2021, worked alongside them to maintain the pool's water quality.

Greenwater Services and Pearl Purity Water Solutions have yet to provide a statement on the matter.

Tourists wandered leisurely around the Reflecting Pool on Monday as maintenance workers tackled the algae buildup under the scorching summer sun. A local educator, Bonnie Garvin of Monticello, Georgia, expressed indifference to the pool's unusual green coloration.

Ms. Garvin downplays the significance of the pool's water quality, stating no immediate concerns exist.

Therapist Jessica Lea of Portland, Oregon, expressed disappointment after visiting the iconic Reflecting Pool for the first time.
