During the G7 leaders' group photo, a meeting that was documented by presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, President Lee and his counterpart exchanged greetings, with Trump inquiring about the status of their country's ties to North Korea.

President Lee has requested President Trump's involvement in resolving the North Korean situation through peaceful means, citing his successful handling of conflicts in the Middle East region, as stated by Lee's office officials. In response, Trump committed to tackling the North Korea challenge, according to Kang's statement.

G7 leaders voiced deep unease regarding North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile initiatives, reiterating their unwavering support for a complete dismantling of Pyongyang's arsenal as outlined in U.N. Security Council resolutions issued on Wednesday following the summit.

President Lee's diplomatic agenda centers on pressing North Korea to rectify its abduction of Japanese nationals, while also tackling the shared challenge of cryptocurrency thefts and cyberattacks.

During his first term, President Lee's diplomatic endeavors have been significantly influenced by his efforts to improve relations with North Korea. Notably, three pivotal meetings took place between Trump and Kim Jong Un in key locations: Singapore in 2018, Hanoi in 2019, and the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas later that year.
