President Lee Jae Myung requested US President Donald Trump's leadership in resolving North Korean tensions peacefully, as reported by his office, following their informal meeting at the Group of Seven summit on Tuesday last week.

During the G7 leaders' group photo, a meeting that was documented by presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, President Lee and his counterpart exchanged greetings, with Trump inquiring about the status of their country's ties to North Korea.

President Lee has requested President Trump's involvement in resolving the North Korean situation through peaceful means, citing his successful handling of conflicts in the Middle East region, as stated by Lee's office officials. In response, Trump committed to tackling the North Korea challenge, according to Kang's statement.

During his first term, President Lee's diplomatic endeavors have been significantly influenced by his efforts to improve relations with North Korea.
