02‘Mexico 86’

Streaming begins on June 5.

The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup serves as the perfect backdrop for Netflix's new film, which tells the remarkable story of Mexico's 1986 tournament victory. This historic event not only brought pride to the nation but also helped heal the wounds inflicted by a catastrophic earthquake that struck just the previous year. Diego Luna takes on the role of Martín de la Torre, a driven government official who spearheaded Mexico's unlikely bid to host the World Cup, navigating complex negotiations and making tough decisions to outmaneuver their American and Canadian rivals. The film's director, Gabriel Ripstein, in collaboration with Daniel Krauze, skillfully blends fact and fiction to recreate Mexico's triumphant moment while also exposing the darker side of government corruption and corporate excesses.

06‘I Am Frankelda’

Frankelda's content will be available online from June 12.

The stop-motion anthology series "Frankelda's Book of Spooks" has likely caught the attention of animation enthusiasts due to its visually striking 2001 release in Mexico. This series, available on HBO Max in the U.S., features a ghostly narrative device where a 19th-century horror author recounts tales of young protagonists facing their deepest fears. While "I Am Frankelda" is a prequel film, it's not essential to have watched the TV show to appreciate its unique storyline. The movie centers around Francisca Imelda (Mireya Mendoza), a young writer who discovers that one of her nightmarish fantasy worlds has become a reality. She soon finds herself drawn into this world, where she must assist Prince Herneval (Arturo Mercado Jr.) in his battle against the manipulative spider-demon Procustes (Luis Leonardo Suárez). The film is a vibrant fairy tale infused with a dark and imaginative tone, courtesy of writers-directors Arturo and Roy Ambriz.

09‘I Will Find You’

Debuting on air: June 18.

In the gripping Netflix mini-series "I Will Find You", David Burroughs, a college professor portrayed by Sam Worthington, is wrongly accused of murdering his toddler son Matthew with a baseball bat. Five years into his prison sentence, a visit from his sister-in-law Rachel (Britt Lower) sets off a chain reaction as she shows him a photograph of a boy who bears an uncanny resemblance to Matthew - now five years older and very much alive. This revelation sparks David's determination to escape the confines of his cell and unravel the tangled threads of a case that everyone assumed was long resolved. However powerful forces are working tirelessly to conceal the truth, their motives shrouded in mystery. The series is replete with complex supporting characters, played by actors like Milo Ventimiglia, Madeleine Stowe, and Chi McBride, each harboring secrets waiting to be exposed through a series of expertly crafted episodes filled with unexpected twists and turns.

12‘Voicemails for Isabelle’

Streaming commences on June 19.

This romantic comedy was penned by Leah McKendrick, who also took on directing duties. The story revolves around Jill, a pastry chef with big aspirations, played by Zoey Deutch. As she navigates the dating scene in San Francisco, Jill confides in her late sister Isabelle's voicemail. Unbeknownst to Jill, Isabelle's phone number was reassigned after her passing to Wes, a salesman who often finds himself entangled in complicated relationships and dishonesty. Wes is captivated by Jill's voice mail messages and decides to travel to San Francisco to meet her. This sets the stage for a classic romantic comedy conundrum: how long can Wes keep his true identity hidden from Jill while getting to know her? The film delves into themes of deception, good intentions, and two young individuals yearning for meaningful connections in their lives.

15‘In the Hand of Dante’

Streaming begins on June 24.

Julian Schnabel's film adaptation of Nick Tosches' novel "In the Hand of Dante" weaves together historical conjecture and metafictional elements. Oscar Isaac assumes a dual role, embodying both 13th-14th century Italian poet Dante Alighieri, struggling to complete his magnum opus, and Tosches, who faces intimidation from criminals regarding a purported handwritten manuscript of "The Divine Comedy". Schnabel employs a visually striking approach, juxtaposing vibrant color for the Dante sequences with stark black-and-white for the Tosches scenes. His supporting cast boasts an impressive array of talent, including Al Pacino, John Malkovich, Martin Scorsese and Jason Momoa.
